Unveiling Life’s Meaning: A dive into “Before I
fall” by Lauren Oliver
Ever

In this
captivating young adult novel, Oliver skillfully displays a story of
forgiveness, self-discovery and the impact kindness can have. The story follows
Sam Kingston, the main protagonist, a high school senior living a seemingly
perfect life filled with parties, popularity and a group of friends. However,
everything changes when Sam dies in a tragic car accident. Strangely, she wakes
up to find herself reliving the same day over and over again – February 12th,
Cupid’s Day. Through this groundhog-like event, she faces the consequences of
her actions and goes on a road to redeem herself.
In general, the book explores heavy topics such as bullying and the
consequences of one’s actions. Sam goes through an incredible character
development as she learns to see beyond her behavior and consider the needs of
others, eventually finding forgiveness in the most unexpected places.
I
absolutely loved reading this book, as it has also inspired me to write a
similar story as “Before I Fall”. Lauren Oliver’s writing style and the depth
of her characters made reading the book far more interesting. I also really
liked the songs that are mentioned throughout the story, the author has an
impeccable taste. Even though some parts were heavy, there were moments of
humor and warmth as well, making the story feel real and relatable.
This book
really makes you think about the impact of your choices and how they shape your
life. It’s a powerful reminder that redemption is always possible, no matter
what mistakes you have made.
So if you
are looking for a gripping read that will stay with you long after you have
turned the last page, I suggest you to pick up a copy of “Before I Fall”. You
won’t be disappointed.

Maybe the
best book you will ever read!
Have you ever read a book that has
never become boring and has surprised you again and again? If not, you should
definitively read the book “The perks of being a wallflower.”
In general, this book is about a boy
who is a real outsider at his school. His first friend at school was his
teacher Bill. Bill gave Charlie always extra work because Charlie is special in
a good way. However, Charlie has always had mental health problems because his
aunt Helen who meant everything to Charlie, died in a car accident on Charlie´s
birthday while driving to buy him a present. But when Charlie becomes friends
with the siblings Patrick and Sam one day, his life changed considerably. Now
he also has other problems like love.
Overall, the book is a coming-of-age
novel that describes the feeling of young people very well. It is also about
the very first kiss, taking drugs for the very first time and much more. Also,
important topics that deal with this book are, on the one hand that you can
count on your friends and family not only in good times and on the other hand
that people like Charlie seem invisible but can also have big problems and can
have suffered from a very traumatic experience.
In my opinion this book was one of
the best I have ever read because the book never became boring and there was
always a twist. The book was also funny and sad at the same time. You could
also empathize with the characters and understand why they are the way they
are. What I really liked about the book was the style of it and that it was
structured like a diary and that´s why I think the book was very easy to read.
I would recommend this book to everyone because the book covers many important
topics such as mental health problems, love, cheating, hurting and much more.

It´s kind
of a funny story, but actually not that funny
You want to
read a book about a teenage boy who wants to commit suicide and is admitted to
a mental hospital, where he gets to know a transsexual sex addict and a girl
who has scarred her own face with scissors? Today you will read about the book
“It´s kind of a funny story”, written by Ned Vizzini, a book I recently read in
school.
The story
takes place in New York City. It tells the story of Craig Gilner. He suffers
from enormous pressure of school. He nearly commits suicide but he gets into a
mental hospital, where he hopes that the doctors there will give him enough
medicine to fight his depressions. Throughout Craig´s therapy he gets to know a
few other people with psychological problems such as Nia and Noelle. Noelle,
who is the girl with the scars in her face, will also become close friends with
Craig later on. Or even more?
The plot of
the book focuses on problems a depressed teenage boy might suffer from while
being in a mental hospital, such as problems with friends, family and school.
The book is also based on the author's experience himself. Ned Vizzini spent
time in a psychiatric hospital a few years ago. Maybe he had the same problems
with life and Craig Gilner would represent the old version of him. But that are
just speculations of mine.
Although
there were some passages in the book that were a bit boring to read, especially
the first few pages, I think the book was worth reading. Some passages were
even page turners, I would say. Throughout the story you start to understand
why Craig felt that way and it is just nice to see him getting better every
page you turn. It almost feels like you have known this person for a long time.
This book will make you think about your life and you will see that there are
people out there with bigger problems than your own and you will find out that
you already live a great life and don´t really have a reason to feel sad. And I
think this is the message the author tries to bring to us. I would definitely
recommend this book and you should also give it a try. If the first few pages
are boring, trust me, just go on reading and you will like it.

Der Kameramörder - Thomas Glavinic
Ein Mord mit Kamera
Zwei tote Kinder, eines traumatisiert. „Der Kameramörder“ von Thomas Glavinic erschien 2001 im Verlag Fischer und umfasst 157 Seiten. Die Mischung aus Krimi, Roman und Novelle handelt von einem brutalen Kindermord, den der Täter mit einer Videokamera aufgenommen hat.
Die vier Hauptcharaktere, Heinrich, Eva, Sonja und der Ich- Erzähler, verbringen die Osterferien gemeinsam auf einem Bauernhof, doch ganz in der Nähe wird ein grausamer Mord begangen. Ein Mann zwingt zwei Kinder Selbstmord zu begehen und nimmt das Geschehen mit einer Videokamera auf. Das dritte Kind kann entkommen und es kommt zu einer spannenden Suche nach dem Mörder.
Das Buch ist sehr aufregend bis zum Schluss, allerdings ist der monotone Schreibstil teilweise anstrengend zu lesen. Es gibt keine Kapitel oder Absätze und die Handlungen werden sehr detailliert beschrieben. Jedoch kann man sich in die Hauptcharaktere oft gut hineinversetzen, da sie sehr lebensecht beschreiben werden.
Im Großen und Ganzen hinterlässt das Buch einen guten Eindruck, da die Spannung bis zum Schluss aufrechterhalten wird. „Der Kameramörder“ ist ein sehr empfehlenswerter Roman für alle, die Kriminalgeschichten lieben. Allerdings muss man doch auch sehr grauenhafte Dinge ertragen können, weswegen er sicherlich nicht für jeden geeignet ist.

Die Hochzeit von Auschwitz. Eine Begebenheit - Erich Hackl
„Wer in Auschwitz war, hat für den Rest seines Lebens eine Hornhaut auf der Seele.“ — Im Jahr 1944 heiratete Widerstandskämpfer Rudolf Friemel die Spanierin Margarita Ferrer Rey in einer wohl einzigartigen Zeremonie im Konzentrationslager Auschwitz, wo er inhaftiert war.
Erich Hackl arbeitet dieses Ereignis und dessen Folgen aus diversen Perspektiven auf (so kommen Kinder, Geschwister und die Betroffenen selbst zu Wort) und verleiht der Geschichte mit seiner fließenden Sprache eine melancholische Note.
Auch wenn der unspezifizierte Perspektivenwechsel teilweise für den Leser verwirrend wirkt, ist es nur zum Empfehlen:
Den unsichtbaren Helden des Holocausts werden endlich Namen gegeben.

Das Buch „Ein Geschenk
von Bob“ von James Bowen hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Ich finde es sehr schön,
dass die Geschichte von James und Bob auf einer wahren Begebenheit basiert. Die
traurige Hintergrundgeschichte von James als ehemaliger Drogenabhängiger mit
einer schweren Kindheit macht es nur umso schöner, wie er sein Leben mit Bob
zum Guten verändert hat. Diesen Winter ist es besonders hart für die Zwei.
James hat kein Geld für Strom und Gas und der besonders kalte Winter macht
ihnen auch noch zu schaffen. Keine guten Voraussetzungen für einen
Straßenmusiker.

Ich finde das Buch „Die Wand“ von Marlen Haushofer sehr spannend und lehrreich, aber gleichzeitig auch bedrückend. Generell finde ich, dass dieses Buch keines ist, das man zwischendurch einmal liest. Man sollte sich mit dem Buch auch ein wenig auseinandersetzen und nach der letzten Seite über die Geschehnisse nachdenken. Schade finde ich, dass das Buch so ereignislos endet. Diese Literatur hat meine Psyche sehr beansprucht. Vor allem finde ich aber, dass man das Buch mit Respekt behandeln sollte, obwohl es eine sehr düstere und depressive Stimmung vermittelt. Alles in allem war es ein sehr gutes Buch und ich kann jedem empfehlen, dieses einmal zu lesen.

Ich finde das Buch „Die Nacht so groß wie wir“ von Sarah
Jäger sehr romantisch
und interessant, aber gleichzeitig auch spannend.
Durch
dieses Buch realisiert man, wie wichtig einem seine Freunde sind und wie sich
alles durch
Schule
ändern kann. Ich finde es
aber schade,
dass das Buch so plötzlich endet. Außerdem begreift man auch, dass nicht alle
Freunde bleiben, sondern nur die wahren
Freunde, die dir in schwierigen Zeiten helfen und dich zum Lachen bringen. Im
Großen und Ganzen ist das ein gutes und schwärmerisches
Buch, das
ich jedem weiterempfehlen kann, der gerne Romane liest.

"Eine wie Alaska" von John Green ist ein berührendes und tiefgründiges Jugendbuch, das die Themen Freundschaft, Liebe und Verlust auf eindringliche Weise behandelt. Die Geschichte dreht sich um Miles, der nach dem plötzlichen Tod seiner Freundin Alaska an einer Internatsschule lebt und versucht, ihren letzten Wunsch zu erfüllen. Der Schreibstil des Autors ist intelligent und poetisch, die Charaktere sind gut ausgearbeitet und die Handlung hält viele Überraschungen bereit. "Eine wie Alaska" ist ein Buch, das man nicht mehr aus der Hand legen möchte und das lange nachwirkt. Eine klare Leseempfehlung für alle, die sich für emotionale und tiefgründige Geschichten interessieren.

Das Buch „Harry Potter
und der Gefangene von Askaban“ ist sehr empfehlenswert, da es viele
interessante Passagen bietet, an denen der Leser richtig in die Welt der
Zauberer und Hexen eintauchen kann. Zum Teil ist das Buch ein wenig traurig,
aber das Ende ist das, was mir am besten von allen Harry Potter Teilen gefällt.
Manchmal ist das Buch ein wenig gruselig. Deshalb sollten es vielleicht auch
keine Jüngeren, die sehr sensibel sind, lesen. Aber alles in allem ist es ein
Topbuch. Man sollte aber zuerst die ersten zwei Teile gelesen haben, um alles
zu verstehen.

Das Buch „Thalamus“ von Ursula Poznanski ist 2018 im Verlag Loewe erschienen. Das Buch richtet sich eher an Kinder und Jugendliche. „Thalamus“ handelt von einem Jungen, der verunfallt ist und dann in eine Rehaklinik kommt. Das Buch ist voller Spannung, da es Timo aus seiner Sicht erzählt, dadurch kann man sich gut in Timo hineinversetzen und die Spannung spüren.
Mir gefällt dieses Buch sehr gut und ich würde es definitiv weiterempfehlen, da dich dieses sehr in seinen Bann reißt und mitzieht. Durch das Thema im Buch würde ich sagen, dass die Zielgruppe der Jugendlichen sehr gut angesprochen wird.
Was ist eine Rezension?
Das ist eine kritische Besprechung eines Buches (auch Filmes, Theaterstückes etc.), eine begründete Beurteilung. Ein solcher Text soll informieren, aber auch unterhalten. Im besten Falle verrät er das Ende nicht, damit so viel Spannung wie möglich bestehen bleibt.
